The San Francisco 49ers waived kicker Jake Moody on Tuesday and reportedly signed Eddy Pineiro to take his place.

The Niners moved on from Moody after he missed two field goals in the season opener. A third-round draft pick in 2023, he missed a 27-yard attempt in the second quarter and had a 36-yarder blocked in the third of Sunday's 17-13 win at Seattle.

Moody did convert a game-tying field goal from 32 yards in the fourth quarter and also made both of his extra-point attempts.

Pineiro worked out for the Niners earlier Tuesday before he was signed, according to several reports.

Pineiro, 29, has familiarity with San Francisco special teams coordinator Brant Boyer while he was with the New York Jets in 2021.

Pineiro spent the past three seasons with the Carolina Panthers, making 80 of 90 field-goal attempts and 80 of 87 extra-point tries.

In 32 career games, Moody has made 74.2 percent of his field goals (46 of 62) and 97.9 percent of his PATs (94 of 96).

Moody set a Super Bowl record with a 55-yarder against Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII, only to see Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker break the mark with a 57-yarder later in the game.

San Francisco does not currently have another kicker on the active roster or practice squad. Greg Joseph spent time with the team during training camp.

The 49ers (1-0) visit the New Orleans Saints (0-1) on Sunday.
